Church History

The church is a Pentecostal church founded on the inspired Word of God and with a mission to develop faithful, committed men and women of God, who will in turn pass on the baton to others as they grow in the Lord and as they serve. The church was founded by the late Pastor Lennon Thulani Sibiya and his wife Given Sibiya on the 15th of November 1998. He was ordained in 1995 at the Upper Room Assembly in Hillbrow, under the spiritual fatherhood of Pastor Derek Adcock. The church is based in Drieziek Ext 4, Orange Farm, and has two branches, one in Lufhereng and the second in East London, in the Eastern Cape.

In the words of Pastor Sibiya when he was first called to start the church: “Orange Farm is an informal settlement that is gradually being developed. It is an area that has not yet been saturated with the word. It is like a desert and there’s very little happening except frustration and poverty. My aim is to reach many people of Orange Farm with the word of God and give the hope that is in Jesus to thousands who are lost. My desire is to establish a permanent church that will be a lighthouse for many who are lost and to feed the body of Christ in Orange Farm.
The Lord has laid it in my heart that He wants to raise for Himself faithful men and women in Orange Farm that will be faithful to teach others.”

That was the vision of the Founder Pastor, which up until today remains the church’s vision: 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV) “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Sadly, Pastor Sibiya went to be with the Lord in September 2015 and the church is now under the leadership of the late Pastor’s wife, Senior Pastor Given Sibiya, supported by two local pastors, Pastor Phethindaba and his wife Tshameleni Moyo and Pastor Thabiso Tibane and his wife Nokubalele Tibane. The church is also supported by an elder board made up of the following members of the church: Mr. P and Mrs K Mosoeunyane,  Mrs E Modikoe Mrs N Nkuna

The Lighthouse branch is under the leadership of Pastor Sootho Marena and his wife Mangaliso Marena, while the Lighthouse Eastern Cape is under the leadership of Pastor Mzwandile Bota and his wife Nosigcine Bota.
